Washington County Community College
Washington County Community College is one of seven community colleges that operate under the authority of the Maine Community College System. WCCC is a non-profit, residential, post-secondary institution supported, in part, by appropriation from the Maine State Legislature. The college is located in Calais, a rural community on the international border between the United States and Canada. The college’s modern classrooms, labs, and residential buildings are situated on a hillside overlooking the St. Croix River Valley at the edge of a 400-acre campus of mature woods and fields.
The college currently offers 18 full-time major programs of study at the associate degree, diploma and certificate levels. A wide range of credit and non-credit courses are also offered in the evening, during the summer term and online. All these programs are offered to women and men, and all students are encouraged to enroll in programs considered non-traditional for their gender. Qualified people with disabilities are also encouraged to apply and are provided appropriate support services. Most programs are designed to give male and female students the technical knowledge and skills as well as the essential general education with which to pursue a career field after graduation. The Liberal Studies program offers students the opportunity to obtain their first two years of a baccalaureate credential at WCCC before transferring to another college or university. WCCC has a number of program articulation agreements with four-year institutions throughout the state to assist students to transfer upon meeting the necessary course requirements.Members of the college community are proud of the education provided at WCCC and look forward to many more years of providing quality post-secondary education at Washington County Community College.
