President Barack Obama named Jianglong Zhang, an assistant professor in UND’s Department of Atmospheric Sciences, one of the nation’s top 100 beginning researchers, calling those receiving the honor, "extraordinarily gifted young scientists and engineers."

Zhang conducts research on atmospheric aerosol and chemistry at the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences. He will receive the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on young professionals early in their independent research careers.
